Additional Survey
An additional survey is carried out in order to verify the suitability and safety of the ship's operation after accidents, significant equipment replacements, redevelopment and reconstruction.

The scope of the extraordinary survey depends on the age of the ship, the period after the initial survey, the scale of the work performed and the replacement of the ship's equipment.

When the ship needs an additional survey?

Additional surveys are inspections, general or partial, as the case may be, to be carried out after repairs resulting from accident investigations or whenever any major repairs or replacements are made. These are inspections that are carried out to make sure the ship is safe and fit for operation.
accidents and reconstruction

Special surveys may also normally be required for ships over 20 years old that are considered high risk ships or have a history of accidents or incidents. During a special survey, the surveyor will conduct a thorough inspection of the vessel. This will include inspection of the hull, superstructure, machinery and equipment. The surveyor can also interview the crew and review vessel maintenance records.
Vessel's age

In addition, an unscheduled survey is carried out in cases of decommissioning or commissioning after decommissioning, during mothballing and commissioning after mothballing, when the ship is detained by port control authorities, when the navigation area, the number of people on board change and in other justified cases. An examination is also carried out if there has been a delay in the examination or it is required to restore the class.
